A Thought

I think it’s a little funny that I am not Christian, however, a couple of the best bands I’ve heard are Christian rock bands (i.e. Fireflight, Flyleaf, etc.)(actually, no etc., those are the only ones. :P). I’m not sure why they’re referred to as Christian rock, because not all songs are centered on that and they appeal to people other than Christians. To me, it’s not the religion that matters. They have great melodies, guitar, lyrics, beat, etc. It’s the music.

I said the same thing about Jars of Clay. Great group. My problem with such groups are not their talent, but the fact that every damn song is about the same damn thing, y’know? Great, you’re Christian and play music; I respect that. But, y’know, write and sing about other stuff too, ’kay?

Otherwise, yeah…musical talent is musical talent at the end of the day. Well, ’cept for Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and the likes. >.>

Those bands, Julie, DO sing about God and stuff. But because they don’t want to be limited in their material, they use double entendres (sp?). So, yeah.

Tell me no more stories. No, don’t tell me no lies. No one wants to hurt me, but everybody tries.

I have the opposite problem. The bands that are supposed to be Christian but who write about ‘inappropriate’ topics (as deemed by the most powerful force in the universe other than God himself, my mother. Lol jk). They are really good, but I don’t want to listen to someone scream over and over again about what they did with a girl. Especially if it is supposedly a Christian song. That is one reason I like country. It tells a story, rather like a poem. :D

Sometimes, when I say “oh, I’m fine,” I want someone to look me in the eyes and say “Tell the truth.”

Entendres?
To me, country’s a bit whiny. Rock is REBELLIOUS. And just plain GOOD. :D

I never said I didn’t like rock. I just also happen to like country.
