I decided to go with something a little different this time, and give a little more freedom to the prompt.

I enjoy a good villanelle. It is arguably one of the most difficult poetic forms, but the challenge makes it SO worth it when it is done.. So… Lets see some villanelles!

Villanelles follow a specific rhyme and refrain scheme. Wikipedia has a pretty good article here .

There is some give to the strict form. You can alter the refrains just a little bit, to make them fit the stanza, but all in all, you need to follow the form to make it a villanelle. An example of three I wrote as a progression, years ago, is here . The first is strictly following the form. The second has a tiny change. The third has a little more creativity, but it still follows the same basic scheme. Just to give you ideas of how you can alter it and still follow the form.
