What a dreary day,
A depressing day.
Oh what a wonderful way
To fly away.
Not by the knife,
Not swallowing lead,
You exited extravagantly,
Never looking back.
We would die
Together.
I would say
It was your fault.
You thought you were alone.
(I swore I was alone….)
You thought nobody cared.
(I swore nobody cared….)
You just didn’t know,
(I really didn’t know….)
How much I loved you!
(I wish that I had…!)
Shaking and quaking,
Falling through the night.
Loving and feeling,
Never looking back.
We would die
Together.
I would say
It was your fault.
But you left me
No room to talk.
And I must keep silent,
To honor you.
This will end in blood.
And in order to
Save you from myself,
I’ll save the dead from—
Knowledge brought
Us together.
And ignorance
Made us one.
It’s probably just
Too bad to know,
One, two, three, four
Dozen epitaphs by heart. (By heart!)
Twisted,
And maimed,
All we could
Afford to do was:
Shake and quake
And fall through the night;
Love and feel,
Never looking back!
This will cost
Six pence and your soul:
Eternity, good-bye,
Forever.
